This sort of begins his position of fear towards “the other”/ Martin and the director. ![]() This was the start of what made me worry for him especially when he rounds the peninsula and Martin is at the end of the hall. It sort of goads him by telling him to wake up and see what he’s missing both in life and in the situation with the tape.įor the editing the creepiest part is when Harry first visits the director’s office and Martin tries to grab the tapes from him, after he leaves there’s a long shot of him walking to the elevator and around the corner. At first it adds to the girl’s character but in the end the song becomes somewhat like a narrative to Harry, who is stuck in a paranoid state and overlooks the other perspectives and aspects of his life. The way she sings it is also so sweet and melodic that it sort of soothes the mood in the movie. The song is a lullaby that goes back to when you were a happy child. I simply thought it was supposed to make the female character more likable and more like a mother figure but I think it also speaks to Harry’s inability to look outside his profession and open up to the people he cares for. ![]() The importance of it was lost on me until the end. ![]() For the sound the accapella song, “When the Red, Red, Robin Comes Along”, was very telling, for me, of what was going on in “The Conversation”. ![]()
